Insolvent company

Definitions

A solvent company is one that would appear to be able to meet its liabilities/debts when they are due.

Usually to mean a company that has a positive shareholders' equity. For example,

Accumulated losses (S$90,000)
Total S$10,000 -
Solvent

Retained earnings S$10
Total S$100,010 -
Solvent


Share Capital S$100,000
Accumulated losses (S$190,000)

Total Assets MINUS Total Liabilities = POSITIVE – Solvent
